Frogwares: Focus Home Interactive entfernt Spiele aus Stores
Das ukrainische Entwicklerstudio Frogwares hat aktuell Probleme mit dem Publisher Focus Interactive aus Frankreich. Laut einem offenen Brief von Frogwares dem Entwickler der Sherlock Holmes Spiele und Sinking City wurden die Spiele, die unter Focus veröffentlicht wurden, aus den Storefronts von Steam, Playstation & Xbox entfernt und sind aktuell käuflich nicht mehr zu erwerben.
Betroffen sind demnach Sherlock Holmes Crime & Punishments für Steam, PS3, PS4, Xbox One & 360, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Magrunner: Dark Pulse für PS3 & Xbox 360 sowie Sherlock Holmes versus Jack The Ripper für Xbox 360.
Die Steam Versionen von The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes Vs. Jack The Ripper and Magrunner: Dark Pulse sind aktuell nicht davon betroffen, da Frogwares die Spiele bei Steam selbst veröffentlicht hat.
Außerdem gibt Focus Interactive die Title-IDs der Spiele nicht frei, obwohl die Verträge ausgelaufen sind.
Was sind Title IDs?
(…) Focus Home Interactive, the licensee (or “publisher”) that was in charge of commercializing these games on these platforms, refuses to transfer the title IDs to us, the creators and IP owners of those titles, even though our Publishing and Distribution Agreement has expired.

Bei den Title-IDs handelt es sich um einmalige Identifikationsnummern der jeweiligen Spiele, die mit dem Titel und dem Genre auf den jeweiligen Plattformen verknüpft sind. Dies ist für Frogwares vor allem problematisch, weil die Spiele so nicht mehr ohne weiteres angeboten werden können und von den Spieler Wunschlisten in den Stores entfernt werden. Frogwares geht aktuell davon aus signifikante Verluste aufgrund des Zuges von Focus Interactive zu machen.
Policy-Veränderung mit schweren Folgen
(…) The players will no longer be able to buy and play the game. We will also lose all our wishlists and every other bit of information on those store pages. As the creators and IP owners of all those games, we have no control and no say in this. The decision of Focus Home left us voiceless.

Laut Frogwares wurde die Policy von Focus Interactive geändert. Nach dieser Policy werde Titel, Title-IDs und Content-IDs nach Auslauf eines Vertrags nicht an die Entwickler zurückgegeben.
Because, according to their official statement, sent to us only last week, “Focus has put in place a policy in accordance with which they will not transfer any title – the content ID or title ID – belonging to any developer which has removed all of their games from the Focus catalog”.
A policy that is not in any of our previous or existing contracts with Focus and that has never been applied to us in the past.

Lösung wird angestrebt
Eine Lösung des Problems strebt Frogwares derzeit an. Die Profile in den Stores sollen neu entstehen. Außerdem sucht man auch gemeinsam mit den Konsolenherstellern nach einer möglichen Behebung des Problems.
We are in the process of setting up new store profiles, and we are contacting console stores and hope to try and rectify the situation. However, we are unable to confirm if this can be done and already know that it will be impossible for certain games on previous gen, and very costly for others as we will have to update the SDK and that takes months. We are certainly not going to give up, and will pursue this issue through the appropriate channels.
